In this week's MBA Admissions podcast Alex and Graham begin by discussing some recent waitlist admissions posts on MBA LiveWire; for those still on waitlists, there is still some hope! Your hosts then discussed the recent updates to the Clear Admit website, which should make the user experience better. The new website also means that all the features that were previously only accessible to Clear Admit+ subscribers are now available to all registered users, for free! This includes the Admissions Academy video series, Clear Admit’s LiveWire Data Dashboard (which allows users to parse the data from MBA LiveWire), and several other key features. Alex and Graham really hope this makes for a great MBA admissions resource for all MBA candidates that participate in the Clear Admit community.
Getting down to business, Graham highlighted two Admissions Directors Q and As, featuring Duke / Fuqua and Rochester / Simon. Graham also mentioned two admissions tips: one focusing on MBA admissions resumes, and the second targeting younger applicants. Graham then highlighted the July event series, Essay Insights, which continues this Wednesday with Columbia, CMU / Tepper, Michigan / Ross, UNC / Kenan / Flagler and Yale SOM. This is a very popular series with last week’s event bringing more than 700 candidates; signups are here: https://bit.ly/cambaessay
As usual, this episode features profile reviews taken from three recent ApplyWire entries:
This week's first candidate is an architect by training, but pivoted early in their career, via Teach for America to work in FAANG recruiting. They have a 3.3 GPA, and are targeting a GMAT score above 700. They also have a masters in education with a specialization around mathematics instruction. Alex and Graham really like this profile overall, and think that with a good GMAT score they should have some solid options. Candidate #2 is a Nigerian who has now transitioned to living in London, working in finance in a consulting capacity. Their GPA is a little lower than average, but they have a super GRE score of 335. Alex and Graham encourage them to apply in the first rounds, to their target programs, and then develop a second round strategy, if necessary. Your hosts also think Cornell / Johnson and NYU / Stern are programs they might want to consider. This week's final candidate is very early in their career, after completing a very strong undergraduate experience. Alex and Graham encourage them to seek out more work before applying in about two years’ time. While they might gain access to a decent MBA program now, they will likely gain access to better-tiered programs if they wait, and their MBA experience will also be more meaningful.
