Show Notes

Welcome to the 300th episode of the Clear Admit MBA Admissions podcast! Thank you for tuning in and helping us reach this landmark recording.  A very special thanks to everyone who sent in audio clips with well wishes to mark the occasion too; these clips were mixed into episode #300 to ensure a very celebratory vibe! Getting down to business, this week's episode kicks off with Alex and Graham basking in the milestone of recording so many podcasts.  Graham then highlighted three Adcom Q&As, from Chicago / Booth, NYU / Stern, and ASU / Carey. Graham also discussed the July event series, Essay Insights, which began last week (with a record number of attendees!); this Wednesday we will hear from Chicago / Booth, Dartmouth / Tuck, UPenn / Wharton and UVA / Darden. This is a very popular series that runs throughout July and early August; signups are here: https://bit.ly/cambaessay As usual, your hosts tackled three candidate profile reviews drawn from three recent ApplyWire entries: Up first is a candidate who served in the military for seven years before transitioning to a consulting role with Accenture. He has a 3.4 GPA, but Alex and Graham worry about the relatively low GRE score of 306. It will be important to really try to improve this score, especially on the quant side. It also makes sense to look at MBA Math, HBS CORe or GMAC’s Business Fundamentals. This week's second candidate is still early in his career and looking to apply in one or two years’ time. He has a strong GPA, and Alex and Graham are hoping he can also attain a very good GMAT score. The candidate is not fulfilled with his current career situation and is assessing his options in terms of which direction to go. Of the choices offered, Alex and Graham think moving to the crypto startup makes most sense. This week's final candidate is a chemical engineer with a strong academic record through to the masters level. They also appear to have great work experience, and are focused on issues that are important (climate tech). We hope they can deliver a strong test score, and will be appealing to the very best MBA programs. This episode was recorded in Philadelphia, PA and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who’ve been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!
