Alex and Graham are back with another episode of WireTaps, kicking off this week's show with a discussion of the recent roll-out of several Clear Admit 'essay topic analyses' (which we prepare each season), as the likes of Tuck, Darden, HBS, CBS, and more have published their topics for 2022-23. As with every episode of WireTaps, Alex and Graham review the profiles of three candidates - this week, all three are from ApplyWire.
First up, Alex picks a candidate from Central Asia with strong manufacturing experience. They have also done some interesting things in their community which helps show they are well rounded. A great GPA (3.9) means that they just need a solid GMAT and can likely target the top programs. They note that Yale SOM is their dream program. Our next candidate has some really interesting “skunkworks”-type experience, and great numbers. We worry they’ve been in a hurry with their career and life, and hope they can show the requisite maturity to get the most out of their MBA, and their career. A big question that Alex and Graham tackle is how to weave their less traditional hobbies into their narrative. This week's final candidate is a first-gen female with eight years of experience and a solid GPA. She is waiting to take the GMAT, but also wondering about the opportunity of a GMAT waiver (if she fails to hit the 700 mark she is targeting).
